Watch Your Fingers! MFRWAuthor 2018 Week 35

This week’s writing prompt is,  My Irrational Fears.

Yup, my biggest irrational fear popped right into my head when I saw this prompt. I am scared to go ice skating because if I fall down my fingers might be cut off by someone skating over my hand.

I have no idea where this fear comes from. I have never heard of this happening or seen anything like it. I have even been ice skating a few times many years ago and generally enjoyed it, though I wasn’t very good at it because I have weak ankles. But every time I think about ice skating (which is very popular where I live), I can’t help but cringe at the thought. And I’m really glad my kids have never asked to go ice skating, but I know they will want to eventually and I dread it.

There’s really no amount of telling me that this is irrational to stop me from having this really anxious fear of ice skating. I know it’s probably not going to happen. But it seems like a pretty logical outcome when you put razor-sharp blades near little fingers.

What about you? What is your irrational fear? Let me know in the comments.
