This week’s writing prompt is, My Contest Experiences…
The first time I won a contest that I remember was in my early teens, and this is really going to date me. I had stayed home from school “sick” and was watching a local talk show. During the show they always had a segment where you could call in, give them a number, they would spin a wheel, and you might win a prize. I actually won! I guessed the number 7 and the wheel landed on that number. I think I won about $70.
So instead of staying home, my mom took me to the TV station to get my prize money. We then went to the mall and I bought my first portable CD player (which was also my first CD player) and my first 5 CDs, one of which is still one of my favorite albums ever – Jagged Little Pill by Alanis Morisette. Yup, the year was 1995. Doesn’t that take you back?
